Stranger Things 4 Betting and Odds Preview
Stranger Things took the world by storm when its first season premiered. The Duffer brothers managed to create one of the most iconic shows of our time and Stranger Things is one of the shows which put Netflix on the map for many people.
The science fiction horror TV show is a period drama set in the 1980s. That was one of the main leitmotifs for the show and on more than one occasion the Duffer brothers paid homage to the 80s pop culture, video games, music, and 1980s genre films.
The show premiered on July 15 2016 and it immediately received both critical acclaim and lots of love from fans. Season 1 was followed by two additional seasons and all three seasons achieved similar levels of success.
Stranger Things is set in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. It initially focuses on the investigation following the disappearance of a young boy called Will Byers. However, this is only the tip of the iceberg as it is later found that the Hawkins National Laboratory performs scientific research in the area as well. This sets about a series of paranormal events which create a portal to an alternate dimension called the Upside Down.
The second and third seasons follow a similar premise to the first one and all members of the gang, including Mike, Eleven, Will, Dustin, Lucas and the others are still under strong influence from the entities of the Upside Down.
In the third season the story returns to the original premise of opening a portal to the Upside Down. However, this time it is the Russians who are doing it and as a result people in Hawkins are getting possessed by evil entities.
The success of the first three seasons means that it is certain that a fourth season will also be on the way. In addition to this, the Duffer brothers always said that they imagined Stranger Things to be comprised of four seasons and it is inconceivable that they will stop with the show 3/4 of the way. Finally, the ending of season three left a lot of space for a fourth season to continue where the cliff-hanger ending with Hopper probably still being alive left viewers.
Bookmakers are also trying to do their part in increasing the excitement going into the fourth season. Betting operators such as EnergyBet and LV BET have come out with some enticing odds for some possible season four scenarios. Here we will have a look at the most interesting and potentially rewarding ones.
Hopper is Alive
Everyone thought that Hopper had died to achieve a higher purpose and sacrifice himself for the greater good. However, those patient enough watching the credits saw that Hopper is most likely still alive.
This wouldn’t be the first time that the show’s creators would fake someone’s death as a vehicle to move the plot forward. They did this with Will Byers in the first season when his body was found in the quarry and they also did this with Eleven who was also in the Upside Down instead of being dead.
In fact, even Eleven’s creator, Dr. Brenner is still probably alive and might even be the American that the Russian guards were referring to in the last scene of season 3. If he is not the American, than that surviving person is most likely Hopper.
This means that Hopper is most definitely alive and that he is either in the Upside Down or in a Russian jail. That’s why bookmakers such as EnergyBet and LV BET give short odds of 1/5 for the bet that Hopper is Alive.
Hopper is in the Upside Down
Since it is pretty evident that Hopper is probably still alive, the question that is now in everyone’s mind is where he is. The Duffer brothers gave everyone a hint in the scene prior to his supposed death and those who watched carefully can make lots of money from season four.
This is because just before Hopper nodded to Joyce to turn the keys and blow up the machine, he was seen standing to the left of the machine and was still unhurt. In the next frame, and crucially before the machine blows up, Hopper is nowhere to be seen. This is definitely an indicator that he got out of harm’s way in the nick of time.
One theory is that he used the ladder which is immediately under the machine before it blew up and made it into the Upside Down. This is why betting operators such as LV BET and EnergyBet give odds of 4/5 for the proposition that Hopper is in the Upside Down.
Hopper is in the Russian Jail
The last scene of season 3 shows two Russian soldiers talking about which prisoner to sacrifice to the Demogorgons. They come to the decision that they are not going to feed the creature the American and this is one of the clues that Hopper might still be alive.
Many fans hypothesize that the American is actually Dr. Brenner, but if you feel that it is Hopper that the Russians are talking about you can get high odds of 4 for Hopper being in the Russian Jail courtesy of EnergyBet and LV BET.
There might be a pretty decent case for this bet as Hopper is continuously called the American throughout the season. In addition, the actor playing Hopper gave a pretty telling answer about his character’s faith in an interview after the season finale.
In it, David Harbour said that explaining what actually happened to Hopper will require a lot of dancing around the answer, but that the post-credits scene actually holds the answer. This is pretty indicative that Hopper could be the imprisoned American in the final scene.
Eleven Gets Her Power Back
One of the reasons why we couldn’t know for sure if Hopper is still alive is the fact that Eleven couldn’t see that he was in the Upside Down because she lost her powers. This rather convenient loss of powers happened after the battle at Starcourt and meant that she couldn’t check if her guardian was still alive.
Eleven losing her powers also has a lot of other implications on the show as a whole so it is to be expected that she will get them back sometime during season 4.
Our theory is that Eleven will get her powers back in episodes 1 or 2 in season 4 and after finding out that Hopper is still alive, she and the boys will set the wheels moving on the story of season 4.
Bookmakers give surprisingly high odds for Eleven getting her powers back and a lot of money can be made on this betting proposition as both of EnergyBet and LV BET give odds of 2.
